Trusting Life Amidst Burnout
Recently, I have received news that I will potentially will be moving to a different area in the city. I am very happy about it and I cannot wait to make that transition. But who would have thought, that the hardest part, is waiting for things to happen. I would consider myself as patient but, this is a different type of waiting. It is waiting for something I wanted my whole life. A place to call my own and being okay to buy my groceries and live within my means. But unexpectedly, I ama going through a burn out from ruminating about the possible ups and downs that come with this transition. Needless to say, being autistic and not knowing what exactly is going to happen and how makes me feel uneasy.
This year has been all about trust for me, because there are circumstances I cannot control. I am completely at the merci of things outside of me. I cannot wish things would happen faster but can only trust. Trusting is something, I am not good at. I do not trust easily and this scenario is beyond my limits of trust.
During a time like this, I am reminded to rest more and take things easy versus allowing anxiety to rule my days. It is very difficult to not let anxiety get the best of me, but going outside for a walk in the morning and making small plans, while I wait, makes things easier. I am still learning how to trust, so I have no words of wisdom on how to best do that.
The Bible reminds me to trust, like Peter did when walking on water towards Jesus. It is no easy thing to trust when you are surrounded by the depth of doubt. But Lo’ behold, Jesus is there to catch you, shall you forget to take one step at a time towards him. In my case, I need to remember to take one day at a time, as I walk towards Jesus, and my goal of transition.
