Perfection

I am not really sure how to begin this blog post.
I have been thinking about this post for weeks and I still do not have a topic.

Sometimes, I guess, there just has to be a post about nothing to
get over the write’s block. Eat, Pray, Love, author, Elizabeth Gilbert,
writes about shit sandwiches. She says, in her Big Magic book,
that every type of work has a shit sandwich.

What she means by that is - everything we do has some parts to it that really suck.
We would rather tackle that disorganized drawer, than deal with an excel sheet,
clean-up a web site, or whatever does not sound like fun.
But I presume that is the point of it.
Those parts then, become part of the backbone, of whatever it is we are currently
working on. and currently my bad sandwich is this blog post.

I still have no clue what the topic is, but I am not going to wait until I have that one perfect idea that is worthy enough, to write a blog post about. Perhaps, in the past I would have done that. But partially, I would put it off, until I would eventually give up.
So perhaps, this post is about perfection. Perhaps it is the act of knowing that even though we aim for perfection and think that nothing can be done unless it looks perfect - perfection is also the very thing that stops us from doing that very thing.

And in all honesty, what is perfection, but a mere reflection of one’s personality. Therefore, there is no such thing as a perfect answer, blog post, or an organized closet. Perfection shows us, who the people we love, are, and how to respect by seeing what turns a simple bad sandwich into a sandwich that close to perfection for them. Perfection is an expression of love we have for the other and it is a mere acceptance of someone recognizing your efforts to make them happy.

It is okay to be perfection, but perhaps, it is also nice to let others show us, what their perfection looks like.

xo,
Anika
