Yoga/ Calling/ Action
I have been thinking about the word, ‘calling.’ It is a word that sparks action. Or at least some type of action. Maybe it is to save the humpback whales, maybe it is to write about the humpback whales, and maybe another person is moved to draw them. Whatever the desire is, they are all equally important. There is no bigger or smaller calling on life. Every single desire that is expressed, matters equally. It does not mean that we all find vocation in what comes naturally, but it means, it still should be expressed rather than de-compressed.
I believe yoga is a form of expression. I admire people who can teach a Yoga class. I think it is so cool, and so is the lifestyle. I believe some people are called to teach yoga. One Teacher who used to teach Yin class, had a gift on how she put together her practice. I was lucky to be part of her class, while she still taught. I am forever grateful because she changed my life, and I believe good teachers do that for their students.
Sometimes the calling requires of us to take action that we, perhaps, are afraid to. I think marriage is a calling as well, but that would be a separate blog post of itself. Needless to say, a calling is something that comes naturally but is also scary. And I say scary, because it means something to us individually.
I believe, the Yin practice meant a lot to the Teacher because her passion has seeped into her classes, and I believe that is what made them special.
It is not always about being perfect, even though it is perhaps good to try to reach your type of perfect, but it is about showing up for the thing that means a lot to us and simultaneously scares us.
We do not need to spend a lifetime thinking about what our calling is, because the very expression of our purest love is where we find it; right in front of us.
